XML File

Theย XML Fileย item type allows you to upload or link to an XML file and display the data with Ditty. For general information on working with items check out the following articles:

XML File Settings

Select the Gear/Edit icon shown on your XML File item to adjust the settings.

General Settings

Set the general settings of the XML File item.

  • Fileย โ€“ Add an XML file. Upload a file or paste an external url to a file.
  • Target Nodeย (optional) โ€“ Add the name of the repeating node to use from your xml file. If your file has a complex structure, you may need to specify which node should be used as a repeatable data element.
  • Limit – Set the number of items to display. Use 0 to display all.
  • Label – Add a custom label to display in the item list.

Customize (Layout Tags)

Customize the layout tags used in the layout for an XML File item.

Note: Since layout tags are based on data contained within the XML file, the Item Settings must be updated after adding a new XML file before the associated Layout Tags are populated correctly.

Keep in mind that your layout may not use all of the tags shown on this panel. If the tag is not included in your layout, modifications in this panel will have no effect.

  • Click the checkmark next to each tag to toggle visibility.
  • Click the gear icon to open the available attributes for each tag.
  • If you want to modify an attribute, click the pencil icon next to the attribute name. This will open a field to set a custom value for the attribute.
